Live from @wcsedu board meeting tonight. Again, TN Dept. of Health, Gov. Bill Lee, “parents always know what’s best for their kids” it a bad tagline during a once-in-lifetime pandemic.

It won’t just be Wilson Co. Sincere question: why do the same people who mullishly insist on no masks in school (or contact tracing) concurrently block any virtual school at all? But here we go again. “Parents always know what’s best for their kids.” Gov. Bill Lee TN Dept. of Health

Having a big time with @JDRFTennessee at #JDRFOneWalk with my #T1D research partner in crime Jordan Smith. Our studies of cardiometabolic abnormalities at @vumcdiabetes are directly funded by JDRF Research! (feel free to email [email protected] to learn more!) @JDRF Vanderbilt Health

This is a new chart format I’ve been working on for a few days. Lines still show age-groups, but they now change colour as people get boosters. In October booster coverage was still low even in elderly. But by late Nov you can clearly see how boosters drive cases down 💉📉

There’s growing appreciation that DKA and COVID are closely associated. For me, another question is whether DKA differs substantially between COVID DKA and not COVID DKA. A guess: insulin mediated tissue glucose disposal is lower in the former. care.diabetesjournals.org/content/44/8/1…

As with other projects, it was a pleasure working with my @tcoyd and Clinical Diabetes Research colleagues and friends on this project. diabetes.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/…

So long New Orleans. So great to return to #ADA2022, even if for shorter than planned. So happy to see GannonLab honored, to hear friends like Katie C. Coate Daniel DeSalvo, M.D. TCOYD present, and to visit with people like Aaron Kowalski Michael Riddell, PhD & others. I look forward to San Diego!

I read this JAMA Network Open study showing how effective mandatory masking & vaccination were in mitigating virus transmission in school last year, then recall the nutty @wcsedu school board meetings. How ridiculous the antimaskers & antivaxxers were. ja.ma/3oV6qm7

Congratulations to high-speed-low-drag friends & colleagues like @mdwitht1d for this research & for gaining FDA approval for Omnipod 5 in young chirrun with #T1D. These authors are super folks. diabetesjournals.org/care/article/4…

First time watching @skynews during a clamp experiment. Mind blowing that #QueenElizabeth has passed. I have enormous respect for her extraordinary commitment to her country, particularly given the unexpected turn of fate as a girl that would lead to her ascension. RIP ER.
