Captain John Waldron of the 2/27th (Inniskilling) Regiment, accepting the invitation of a French officer to fight a personal duel at the opening of the Battle of Castalla. Both sides watched on, but it was very swift, with Waldron cutting his opponent down ⚔

Exploring the memorial to Thomas Graham, Lord Lyndoch today. A Scottish aristocrat who married the beautiful Mary Cathcart, when she died, the French custom officers desecrated her coffin, so he raised a regiment (the 90th Regt of Foot, Perthshire Volunteers) to fight.

In today’s podcast episode, we’re diving into one of the most under-appreciated corners of British military history: the Waziristan campaign of 1936–1937. Jon Pick and I talk sniping, ambushes and mountain warfare. podbean.com/ew/pb-5ygu9-18…

As a sneak peek of tomorrow's episode of the Combat on the Côa Christian Parkinson has created a "short" video of yours truly explaining how the 95th Rifles might have used the ground/positions to fight! youtube.com/shorts/xDuIvku…

In this video, we walk the battlefields of Barba del Puerco and the Combat on the Coa, where the Rifles and the Light Division cemented their reputation as elite troops. We walk the ground and use first-hand accounts. One for Mark Urban maybe (I'm sure you explored here)
