Education is political - it is a tool for subverting societies... but also for subverting subversion of societies! Dr Joe Abah, OON The Politics of Education Network (POLED)

Not_that_PeterEvans Dr Joe Abah, OON Quote of the day from Dr Joe Abah, OON : Power always comes first. Power trumps knowledge

Was here in spirit and on zoom from my 4am time zone! Worth the early wake-up to hear Dr Joe Abah, OON’s insights on the importance of political will. Education reforms that fail to harness this critical component are just empty promises. The Politics of Education Network (POLED) bringing the conversations💥

Join us tomorrow as we welcome SYLVIA SCHMELKES for a special online conversation on the politics of advancing education reforms in Mexico! There is still time to register here: …tionssylviaschmelkes.eventbrite.co.uk

Starting our webinar now with our great The Politics of Education Network (POLED) student network. SYLVIA SCHMELKES will present on Power and Politics: Insights from #Mexico's education reform /1

It was a pleasure to have SYLVIA SCHMELKES as the first female speaker in a The Politics of Education Network (POLED) seminar! She shared fascinating insights on power & politics in Mexico’s education system; where politicians, the SNTE union, & other top-down forces often inhibit quality learning reforms.

A key reflection from SYLVIA SCHMELKES today was that equity in education won’t be realized until those at the bottom of the learning pyramid see education as a right and not a service; (political) pressure for this right to quality education must be fostered from the bottom up.
