It was a pleasure to welcome @FAOEmergencies Director @ReinPaulsen to Somalia. Together, we visited Goobweyn and Bula-Garsay villages in Kismayo to observe FAO's response, recovery & anticipatory action projects on the ground.

Started off my visit to #DRCongo listening and learning from United Nations colleagues, resource partners and Food and Agriculture Organization staff serving here. Today, we make our way to #Goma to see our agricultural work, meet the people we support and understand what more we can offer.

Conflict and climate extremes have displaced 7 MILLION people in #DRCongo. In IDP sites, we have to provide more than food aid. In North Kivu, Food and Agriculture Organization is helping start vegetable gardens with seeds, tools and water storage – bringing better nutrition and some income.

Visiting displaced and host families at Rusayo 2 site in eastern #DRCongo and saw how Food and Agriculture Organization’s Cash+ approach is changing lives. In late October, Food and Agriculture Organization and Ephrata provided $135 each to 1,212 families. Today, they receive seeds and supplies to grow vegetables for food and income.

In Rusayo 2 IDP camp in North Kivu, CERF - The UN's emergency fund funding to Food and Agriculture Organization is saving lives and allowing those forced to flee violence to grow and eat nutritious food. It is what they asked for. #AAP #Impact #EmergencyAgriculture
