Good morning #orchem2024. We start with Prof. Tanja Gulder, putting selectively halogens into complex molecules. Rethinking textbook chemistry!

Good morning #orchem2024. Final day of an exciting meeting, thanks to all speakers, supporters, sponsors, staff and especially to the participants. Great posters last night, choosing poster awards is virtually impossible (more on this later).

Tipping the scales: Rather than the usual [3+2]-cycloadditions with donor-acceptor-cyclopropanes, Andreas, Manuel, and Anna discovered a [4+1]-annulation of pyrrolidinones with thioureas, acting as an N,N-bisnucleophile. doi.org/10.1002/chem.2…. Thanks to RTG2620 for funding.

Turning to the heteroleptic side: Tirtha and Mangsih identified a copper(I) complex for the photocatalyzed ß-chloroacylation broadly applicable to alkenes or alkynes, taking inspiration from NgaiLab (Student Run). Just out on ChemRvix doi.org/10.26434/chemr…
