I'm happy to share that our article, published in nature (nature.com/articles/s4158…), highlighting the mutations occurring in our colon due to "L1 jumping genes". Genomic mosaicism by L1 jumping begins during early development and continues throughout an individual's lifetime!

Today I’m missing my Oxford grad ceremony, but it was commemorated by being asked to review a manuscript using a misspelling of my name 🙄

Among reasonably smart people, the main differentiator is not raw intelligence, but interest in a topic. Maybe this does not hold true for pure maths, but for most topics it does

Super excited to share our new paper in Annals of Oncology on why, Treatment of evolving cancers will require dynamic decision support. An #AndersonLab collab led by the brilliant Maximilian Strobl & Jill Gallaher with Mark R-T & Jeffrey West. Very proud of this piece! protect-us.mimecast.com/s/OPkaCqxAwBTj…

For anyone at #ASHG2023 check out our recent work led by superstar student Hamish MacGregor on modelling the deceleration of clonal haem in #UKBB. Cancer poster session III Saturday AM. Evidence of age-related slow down in HSC dynamics.

For decades, monoclonal origin has been a textbook dogma, positing a single cell initiates tumorigenesis. However, this is primarily drawn from malignant tumors that have evolved for decades through clonal selection. What about earlier precancer stages? Could they be polyclonal?"
