In the Oct 2024 IMF WEO, the IMF said that Kenya’s public debt at end-2024 would be 69.9 % of GDP. In the April 2025 IMF WEO, the IMF said that Kenya’s public debt at end-2024 was 65.6 % of GDP Oops. That’s 4% of GDP in 6 months, with no exchange rate change. Where did it go ?

Another way to understand this. In Oct 2024, the IMF projected what public debt would be by end year. The IMF now says that its Oct projection was wrong by 4% of GDP. How could the @IMF be so enormously wrong over such a short interval on the central target of its program?
