The Class AA State Baseball Tournament begins on Wednesday at Putz Field in St. Cloud and the Pierz Activities are the #6 seed and will play #3 seed Pine Island at 12:30 pm! GO PIONEERS!

Congratulations to Pierz Activities Senior Lizzy Gross, who played for the Class AA Team on Sunday in the High School All Star Softball Series in Mankato. Lizzy went 2-4 with a steal & scored a run. Coach Matt Poepping was an Assistant Coach. Way to go Lizzy (front/center).

Class AA Girls State Golf: Sophomore Whitney LeBlanc of the Pierz Activities , in her 2nd straight State appearance, had a 1st round score of 93 to tie for 57th at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. Whitney will tee off at 7:38 am Wednesday for her 2nd round. Good luck Whitney!

Girls State (A) T&F: The Pierz Activities Payton Stangl was 12th (Discus). Quinn Gruber was 20th (800). The 4x100 team of A Gruber, M Gahler, E Gall, C Gruber was 14th. Wed- Beverly Rentz competes in the Shot Put, the 4x800 (C Lochner, M Litke, S Leidenfrost, Q Gruber) competes.

Class AA Girls Golf: Whitney LeBlanc of the Pierz Activities had the 4th best Day 2 improvement in the entire field, taking 10 strokes off her Day 1 total to surge from 57th to a tie for 40th in Jordan. Whitney shot a 93 on Tuesday, but came in with an 83 on Wednesday for a 176.

Class A Girls State T&F: Beverly Rentz of the Pierz Activities finished 8th in the Shot Put (36-06.25) and the 4x800 relay team of Sophie Leidenfrost, Quin Gruber, Morgan Litke and Chloe Lochner finished 12th with a time of 10:01.20.

Class A Boys State T&F: The Pierz Activities 4x100 team of Brayden Foust, Paul Nieman, Kyle Stangl & Aiden Jones took 2nd with a school-record time of 43.04. Aiden Jones took 4th in the 100 (11.15) and Wyatt Betsinger was 16th in the 1600 with his time of 4:38.91.

Clay Target: The Pierz Activities competed at the State Championships in Alexandria. Sam Schyma 96 (out of 100) including 50 straight. Isabelle Smith also had 50 straight and finished with an 88. 25's were recorded by Zach Medek (94), Lucas Scott (95) and Callan Wagner (89).

AA State Baseball: The Pierz Activities lost 1-0 in 8 to Pine Island. The Panthers got a 1-out, walk-off single in the 8th to win it. Brayden Haberman struck out 10 in 7.1IP Grady Young 2-4, Danny Litke 1-3, Kaden Kruschek 1-2 2bb. Pierz vs Maple River 9:30 am Thursday in Sartell.

The Pierz Activities beat Maple River 7-1 in the Class AA Consolation Semifinal. The 5th place game was rained out. WP Nate Solinger CG 1r 6h 4K. Grady Young 2-4 2B, Brecken Andres 1-1 2 rbi, Bo Woitalla 1-1 2B, 2 hp, Sawyer Lochner 1-3 2B, 2 runs. Pierz finished 5th in AA (17-10).

I meant to post this last week, but it was a real pleasure to witness members of the 2024-25 Class AA Boys Basketball Champion Albany Boys Basketball Huskies throw out the ceremonial 1st pitch prior to the FOX 9 Town Ball Tour game for the Avon Lakers and StWendelSaints (10-6 ovr, 8-2 Victory League) on Wednesday!

Today’s Culver's Restaurants uniform challenge number is Karl Kassulke of the Minnesota Vikings. He played 10 years with the team and today (7/24) marks the 52nd anniversary of the motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. The accident happened on his way to training camp on 7/24/73. Randy Shaver
