All of these candidates talk about Oxford’s global reach - understandably - but it is a shame that only Baroness Jan Royall mentions Oxford’s contribution/responsibility to the city and region. While Oxford isn’t a ‘Civic University’ every university has a local/place based role.

Grayson Perry showing much greater political insight than much of the UK political pundit class. He is a working class hero from Essex though, so I suspect that explains his wisdom.

Excellent article by Torsten Bell on the importance of local universities to regional growth. Exactly what we're doing in Herefordshire through top-quality academic and practical Bachelors and Masters engineering degrees at New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering Department for Education theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Really enjoyed doing this podcast with Paul Greatrix. My imaginary university is inspired by two great people James Timpson and the late Bob Kerslake, linking social purpose with the #trulycivic movement.
