Leaving overnight call this morning at Michael Garron Hospital and I’m welcomed by the smell of sage (presumably from smudging) in the stairwell. It was the post-call medicine I didn’t know I needed. I wish this happened every day, at every hospital.

I often get asked how to phrase asking about someone's cultural background. Here's one way and, of course, it comes from an Elder.

It was a privilege to be one of several trans researchers and clinicians interviewed for this! Here’s the takeaway for clinicians: trans people will be your patients no matter what kind of medicine you practice, treat them with respect. #MedEd #TransHealth #TransMedTwitter

Fighting Indigenous children in court = fighting Indigenous children in hospitals and clinics. Our children need services and support, not legal backlog and red tape. Implement First Nations Child & Family Caring Society recommendations fully and stop perpetuating harm on children.

These are two people that I care about deeply, who love our community. It brings me joy to work at Call Auntie through Inner City Health Associates and provide care to children and their families. We see inequities every clinic and work to reverse them.

I’m really fortunate to work with Jennifer and the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society on this important work. This is one way we, as pediatricians, can contribute to substantive equity for First Nations children and youth. Thank you for all the work you do 🧡🧸
