🔍 How to deal with “research shows” claims. Check out this great flow chart by Dave McAlinden, which perfectly captures the advice I shared in my talk at researchED Canada. Mme Lockhart

How do we leverage the science of learning to promote instructional equity? It begins with helping students rebuild their learning power. That's the big topic I tackle in my upcoming book. It's now available for pre-order. lnkd.in/gn9Yy5uG Use code SAVE20 for 20% off

I’m convinced that lesson delivery is the missing piece for many. I’ve seen targeted lessons based on student need, solid materials, smart groupings…and kids still aren’t making average + progress. Why not? They usually are missing these pieces.

Mme Lockhart You are speaking my language today. Every day I just want to focus on helping the kids learn skills to a high level. Why does it feel like people see this as secondary to everything else at school?

Student learning is more important than teacher autonomy. That shouldn’t be a controversial opinion but it is. We would never consider pilot autonomy or doctor autonomy more important than a successful flight or medical treatment. We expect pilots and doctors to use the best

I want to clarify that this ⬇️ was accomplished using an explicit and systematic phonics program (UF Literacy Institute) for an average of 30 minutes a day - no separate phonological awareness program necessary - as part of a rich kindergarten program which includes LOTS of play.

Kathy Rice Kate Winn Great point. I wanted to put this book on my summer reading list but hesitated to buy it bc the subtitle said it’s for leaders. About 1/2 way through the introduction, I realized that leadership is more about growing & mobilizing your knowledge than it is about formal positions.

Parents, if your children (or you) have never read Charlotte’s Web, now is the time. It really doesn’t matter how young or old they are, read it to them. Heck, even if you’ve all read it before, now is a great time to reread it.

I met American firefighters up north who came to help - and they had nothing but praise for Manitoba. To those in U.S. Congress trying to score points off our wildfire crisis: now’s not the time. People are grieving. Communities still at risk. Let’s focus on helping.
