Head over to posters 1336 and 1340 to learn about predictions of bone growth in an equine model - amazing collab with Carle Illinois Med students Alex Teague and Sam Mircoff, Vet Med at ILLINOIS and The Grainger College of Engineering @BeckmanInst

Hey #biomechanics and #orthotwitter👋🏻 I will be defending my dissertation on model materials🧶 and non-invasive microstructural imaging🧲 of tendon/ligament next Monday at 3:30pm US central time. If anyone would like to attend virtually, please send me a DM! Mariana Kersh, PhD

Today, I passed my PhD defense🥳🎉 I want to thank everyone that has been a part of this journey, my lab Mariana Kersh, PhD, collaborators, committee members, colleagues, mentors, friends, family, and fiancée. I’m lucky to have such amazing people in my life!

Tomorrow's (Thur, July 19, 3pm CST) the big day for Sara Moshage - she will be presenting her PhD defense on the effect of exercise when young in a lovely dual-benefit equine model. Excellent work on multi-scale mechanics. DM for a zoom link.

🚨🚨Next Tuesday (July 25th, 10am CST) Jon Blank will be defending his PhD research that advanced the use of shear waves to study tendon and ligament structure & function!! DM him for a zoom link because you're going to want to see this talk! UW Orthopedics and Rehabilitation UW-Madison Mechanical Engineering

Want to run a robot and solve clinical challenges while you're doing it?!?! Apply for UW Orthopedics and Rehabilitation's Biomechanical Research Engineer position: bit.ly/3PT9L2b Please RT! Looking for a faster, more objective method for measuring #muscle fascicle characteristics on ultrasound? We present our results using a semi-automated MATLAB workflow in Journal of Applied Biomechanics: journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/… Carle Vanderbilt University VUIIS University of Illinois @BeckmanInst

I’m very happy that our work on non-invasive imaging 🧲 of mechanically-induced damage in tendon was selected to be a NIRA finalist, it’s been a great collaborative effort with the whole team Mariana Kersh, PhD Amir Ostadi @BeckmanInst Carle

At #ORS2024 and trying to decide what sessions to attend tomorrow? Check out the Advanced Imaging: Structure and Function of Soft Tissues session, featuring Deva Chan (she/her) talking about 'Multi-contrast MRI: Towards a Richer Picture of Soft Tissue Mechanics' (2/5, 8am Rm 201) #ORSSMC

Check out one of the last papers from Jon Blank's PhD focused on whether it's feasible to determine regional loading using a shear wave tensiometer. We're excited to build on these findings in the Roth Group: Biomechanical Advances in Medicine Lab to enable regional tension measurements in the clinic!
