I had a great conversation with Carl and Richard about the Open Source Maintenance Fee: opensourcemaintenancefee.org. I really appreciate how supportive and genuinely interested they are in getting more sustainability ideas out into the world. I'll write up more when I get some time

Haven't seen this meme in a while. This was normalized by Windows a long time ago (there are limitations). I do wonder exactly what the push back is this time. :)

Wait, there are actually people who call themselves "Computer Scientists". I mean, I have a CS degree, but I've never called myself a Scientist. Not seriously, anyway. 😜

We're obvious fans of the Wix Toolset and excited to sponsor its Open Source Maintenance Fee and learn from how Rob Mensching is continuing to take this project forward [ opensourcemaintenancefee.org ]

What disappoints me about these YouTubers is that they happily promoted these Open Source Projects as long as they were completely free (as in $0). Thus they reinforce a culture that something is bad unless it is available for $0. All the while, they make $ talking about it. :(

I've seen this a few times: "huge win for open source". What does that mean? Look, Open Source already won. It doesn't need more validation. What Open Source needs is sustainability. If projects had a path to long term success, well that would be quite the Win.

Deployment Dojo S2:E1 replay available! Stef reviewed, so if you watched Episode 1 live, a review before Episode 2 is worth it. :) Also, our content schedule at FireGiant is in the blog post. Something is happening every week on the Wednesday.

This is a surprisingly good write up about Section 174. We survived the initial hit at FireGiant but it was very, very painful. It still hurts but we're getting close to the 5 year schedule. I should've recognized how it'd turn into layoffs elsewhere. qz.com/tech-layoffs-t…

We're only two episodes in, and I feel like we're already back in the groove with season 2 of the Deployment Dojo! Learn tons about MSBuild targets in this episode. Oh, and the FireGiant Cinematic Universe expanded, too.

Does anyone know of any _total beginner_ programming content? I'm mostly finding garbage or content that isn't beginner enough. I don't really have the time to start another YouTube channel myself.
