The Senate’s version of OBBBA hits poor families even harder than the initial version passed by the House — now the poorest Americans will lose 2.9% of their income while the richest gain 2.2%

And the bill includes other policies that make errors more likely & increase the risk eligible people lose access to the food benefits they need. It adds huge amounts of red tape for states & families—while slashing federal funding for states to hire staff, update systems, etc.

I’ve seen an article dispute the claim that Alabama will be on the hook for more money (now 10%) for SNAP because of this. You know what doesn’t help reduce error rates? Cutting funding to administer and monitor the program…which is basically what this bill does as punishment.

Under the Senate tax plan, Trump’s tariffs would offset most of the tax cuts for the bottom 80% of Americans. For the bottom 40% of Americans, the tariffs would be greater than the tax cuts. Working-class Americans pay more for the tax cuts given to the wealthiest few.

By voting to financially reward states with the HIGHEST error rates, Republicans turned incentives for fraud upside down. 🙃 States like Alaska & 9 others that make the most mistakes in SNAP benefits go scot-free from SNAP cost shifts for two years while the rest pay.

There's a lot of focus on what Medicaid and ACA cuts would mean for hospitals, because hospitals have lobbyists. That doesn't negate what the cuts would mean for people, with about 12 million people projected to become uninsured due to the megabill.
