This is an important weather announcement from Rockingham County Schools for Friday, February 18. In collaboration with Emergency Services we will operate on a two hour delay due to the potential for strong winds creating power outages and hazardous road conditions.

RCS wishes to extend its congratulations to all the local qualifiers to this past weekend’s NCHSAA 2A State Wrestling Championships. Special congratulations to Reidsville sophomore Rayshun James, who won the NCHSAA 2A state title in the 120-pound weight class!

Congrats also to sophomore Jared Thomas of Morehead, who placed second in the 2A 106-pound weight class, Julius Muller of Reidsville, who placed third in the 2A 160-pound weight class, and Ephram Biggs of Morehead, who placed fourth in the 2A 152-pound weight class.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR RCS STUDENTS AND PARENTS: All juniors in RCS will take the ACT test on March 1. This test is a component of our state accountability system and it is important for our juniors to do their best.

At the February 14 RCS Board of Education meeting, the Board unanimously voted to make Tuesday, March 1 a Remote Learning Day for all RCS high school freshmen, sophomores, and seniors. Juniors must attend school in person that day in order to take the test.

Our College Advisor Ms. Wood took students on a field trip to Rockingham Community College. Juniors and Seniors were able to tour RCC and have hands-on presentations with the Environmental Planning Program and the Health Sciences Pathways at RCC. Rockingham County Schools

The Chemistry Honors students showed Ms. Voicila their extraordinary abilities to build molecules and covalent bonds using the kits of models of atoms in the Chemistry lab. Oh, Chemistry is fantastic! You have to feel the chemistry to learn CHEMISTRY! Rockingham County Schools

At Reidsville High School, Ms. Voicila's students are showing how the Simple Machines make doing WORK easier. A project on which everyone is so excited working! Science is amazing!

Ms. Walls' 2nd block Intro to Design students working on designing their VW Bugs, while Adobe Digital Design students work lessons on Code Academy, before starting on their websites.

Last night we celebrated our 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Mr. William Bradshaw and our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Daphne McLaughlin at a beautiful banquet! Thank you for dedication and going above and beyond for your students!
