I really enjoyed the @kcdowntowners lunch last week. Monica Brady, an owner of The Dub KC, a sports bar dedicated to women’s sports, presented the backstory on their concept & an update on the timeline to open. It will be a big time add for our city. thedubkc.com

Don’t have the exact stat in front of me, but of the #Royals 97 games, 56 of them were against teams with a winning record. They went 21-35. Against sub-.500 teams, they went 26-15. In the second half, 41 of their final 65 games are against sub-.500 teams (right now).

100 years later, the combined total is only about 663,000. Geographically, Kansas City is really big. (319 square miles) Our population needs to grow in order to provide good basic services.

Really enjoyed being there today to see Tony Rinehart present a $150,000 check from Ford to the new Northland Career Center. The development of the new Northland Career has been one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of in politics by a mile. Northlanders get things done!

I admittedly spend way too much time thinking about this but would add… Salvy has five Gold Gloves. Of that list, only Bench and Rodriguez have more. He also has five Silver Sluggers. Only Rodriguez, Piazza and Parrish have more. Plus he is a World Series MVP. Let him in!

I bumped into my pal @chrisanderaos walking down the street today! Coach Chris brings his A game at everything he does. Not only is he a beast on the field for our hometown KC Comets, he is also a great coach and role model for our kids. Check out a @kcComets game if you can!

103 players have at least 25 plate appearances since the All-Star break. Only 3 of those 103 players have *not* recorded a strikeout: Geraldo Perdomo Ernie Clement SALVADOR PEREZ

The Cleveland Guardians are in town…which means Cleveland Guardians fans are in town. I met these folks yesterday & enjoyed welcoming them to our city. They’re not just here for baseball, either. They’re here for BBQ, breweries & museums, too. The economic multiplier is real!

I finished Dan Heath’s Upstream this weekend. It’s a very good book about solving problems before they start and its lessons can easily be applied to city government but also to running dishwasher company, parenting, or almost anything else that’s hard. Highly recommend
