The climate crisis is caused mainly by oppulent lifestyes of the wealthy of the world. It is not because of methane/CO2 emmissions from rice pddies or cattle of poor communities. Solutions therefore cannot be those that take away livelihoods in agriculture of poor communities.

I am incredibly proud of my PhD student Saima Ashipala UFS, who has submitted her thesis on a history of Rössing Uranium Mine in Namibia. She examines how a mine that became a symbol of colonial exploitation survived decolonisation virtually unchanged.
