Integrative and natural approaches to tics and #Tourettes can be very useful, along with avoiding triggering factors. #StopTicsToday

I believe we can bring Tourette into symbiosis with all of humanity. I hope for a future where people aren't just accepting, but see value & benefit of all human diversity, including TS. #Tourette #Tourettes #TouretteSyndrome #TicTalk #TourettesPod

Tourette Focus NJ Center for TS I'm actually quite proud of being disabled. I think we should stop seeing the term as negative rather than stop using it. If you don't see me as disabled, even just considering my neurological conditions, you're erasing me.

This is a PSA: If you're a media org and need to talk about disability: 1) get a disabled writer or spokesperson to do it. 2) do not edit away that disabled person's experience. 3) pay or otherwise compensate that disabled person for their time and effort.

The pharmaceutical industry dyes many medications with food dye, yet many people have serious food dye sensitivities or allergies. Medication is essential for many people. When will the industry learn that food dyes can exacerbate certain conditions?

I believe a way to improve Tourette's research in the future would be to have people who actually have TS to choose the topics discussed. I would choose: - Allergens triggering tics - Food dye sensitivity in TS -Tourettic OCD - Phantom tics

It's really important to start including adults in your TS research. Kids with TS often become adults with TS. We don't all just "grow out of it". We especially don't grow out of the comorbidities.

People with Tourette's all respond differently to different treatment. For some, medication is essential, some people prefer CBIT, and some people treat their Tourette's though cutting out allergens, environmental toxins and sensory triggers. #tourettes

Those who don't care abt the affects of ableism don't deal w/ it themselves. If you've never had the experience of telling someone abt a condition that's landed u in the ER & had them laugh at u bc the stigma is that deep, u don't get to tell ppl w/TS to stop worrying abt it.

Why yes, it couldn't be clearer that somehow you still don't know what #tourettes is and don't care. (Hint: we don't lie involuntarily.) #disabledtwitter #ableism

Much of the misdiagnosis, missed diagnoses & incorrect treatment of #Tourette Syndrome are due to misconceptions of the disorder by #doctors
