I was fortunate to be able to work directly with Jack while Chief of Operations of NOPD through the mid to late 1990’s. A brilliant mind and a caring friend. I learned a lot and shared his knowledge for the rest of my career.

Excellent point Kenneth. Eradication of violence requires prevention, early intervention & Re-entry/rehabilitation AND equally efficient and effective police/prosecutors for those who do still choose death and destruction. Cannot have one without the other.

Mr. Benson’s passing is painful for his family, the city and Loyola University. But, his legacy of generosity will bring decades of joy.

Important & positive step for the city! Equally crucial is public data shows from 2010 to end 2017 there is about a 40% increase in UCR Major crimes & nearly six times longer response times to calls for help. Overall shooting up 2%,murders down 16 events, NOPD staff down 23%. x.com/theadvocateno/…
