Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

The wide gate represents dependence on oneself, while the narrow gate represents total dependence on God. If you’re choosing the hard path and not taking shortcuts, you’ll need God’s strength to guide you through. And, oh boy, will it be rewarding.

I shared 1 Peter 5:10 with a high school football team this morning it reads, “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Understand the Bible makes no mistakes, you will struggle and you will suffer! Our own failure can teach us our need for constant reliance on God’s work in our lives. Good uses suffering to perfect, strengthen, establish and settle us.

When we lose in sport remember that God is calling us “to His eternal glory” That glory includes compete victory no matter what the scoreboard says. #defeatisoptional
