One measure of good scholarship, I think, is how it can make prescient statements. W constitutional framers actively making statements on interpretation and the issue of time, José Duke Bagulaya 扶西's works on oracular constitutional interpretation and time as constraint hit the spot.

Let's be clear: Israel's attack on Iran is not simply a violation of the UN Charter. It is a manifest violation of it. Few acts are more unequivocally illegal than preventive (non-imminent) self-defence. So Israel's attack is both unlawful and criminal -- the crime of aggression.

This is not the ICRC's position. It is a footnote to the text on pg. 53 that says "other examples of indirect participation include scientific research and design." The footnote simply acknowledges that some experts disagreed during the ICRC's expert meetings.

Obviously using chatbots makes you more dumb, everyone is skipping over the funniest part: the study authors are such dedicated LLM haters they set up traps to expose AI users lol

Look, this is it. The humanities disciplines aren't toolkits, they're about being well-enough read that you have internalized a bunch of connections and can place new ideas in that web. They're also about being able to write convincingly on command. Exams are part of the process

War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons!

For these scholars, 3>121. They don't believe in sovereign equality. They don't recognise states in the Global South as subjects of international law. Southern states exist only as vassals of "civilized" Western states like the ones currently committing aggression against Iran.

Roman Helmet Guy This isn't a danger of creating "false memories". The danger lies in the artificial realities that this opens the door to. The brain and the heart want more, it's addictive. So deceased or otherwise lost individuals will be "recreated" within Ai and the consumer will sell off

"International law is only law if we demand that our allies, not only our adversaries, obey it. If we apply it selectively, we cannot expect others to respect it, or to respect us." theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

It is disheartening to see today that the strength of international law and humanitarian law no longer seems binding, replaced by the presumed right to overpower others. This is unworthy and shameful for humanity and for the leaders of nations.

AI is being used in the Philippines to further entrench political dynasties through disinformation. What does it mean for the Marcos political "brand", especially on the ground? Regine Cabato and I unpack the issue in this podcast. Check 👉 tinyurl.com/chatgptmarcos

students always ask what number constitutes a genocide. we say it doesn't matter how small. but no mass killing so large as this deserves any other name.

Pride Month ends today, which means many companies will soon take down their rainbow flags and return to “business as usual.” My newly published *open-access* paper, I hope, serves as a timely reminder that inclusion cannot be seasonal. Full download: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/sg…
