Thank you The Mental Elf and Marco Solmi for raising the profile of this important issue as we face a second wave. We do need to learn more about the effects of COVID-19 via studies such as COH-FIT. In the meantime, let's keep moving!

Nice advice for improving happiness when working from home. Good to see "keep active" on the list. This includes breaks in sitting as well as exercise.

Kicking off the 🎉new year🎉 in style - with a new paper coming out! This paper identifies key cognitive appraisals of dissociative experiences. And then describes a new scale to measure these. Cognitive appraisals related to #paranoia and #hallucinations #dissociation #DPD

I’m incredibly proud of this paper. “Felt Sense of Anomaly” is a novel perspective on common #dissociation experiences that I really hope will clarify a complex clinical concept & spark new research ideas. FSA underpins my PhD thesis so I’m thrilled it’s “out there” after 3yrs!

We had really powerful discussions about how young people would like to be supported with their distress & experiences. Amazing to have some of their key points captured in this graphic - important to take these messages further & share widely! #youngpeople #support #mentalhealth

Next week is #RunAndTalkWeek! Running (and walking) provide great opportunities to talk about mental health and wellbeing, as well as boosting your health. Who can you encourage to come for a run? 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃🐕

Really great work from Rowan Diamond indicating three distinct physical activity profiles of people with persecutory delusions: a mobile but inactive group (63%), an immobile and inactive group (27%), and a mobile and active group (11%) Oxford Psychiatry sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

From listening to patients, carers, and staff: a framework and clinician checklist to promote movement and physical activity in patients diagnosed with psychosis. This is fantastic work by Rowan Diamond. Oxford Psychiatry BMJ Mental Health mentalhealth.bmj.com/content/27/1/e…

Absolutely excellent work by Rowan Diamond. This is a masterclass on translating high quality research into a straightforward, practical tool for clinicians to support their clients in a meaningful way. Please share with all the clinicians you know!! mentalhealth.bmj.com/content/27/1/e…

Such important research. With poor physical health driving much of the disparity in life expectancy for people with SMI increasing physical activity can be literally life saving. This should be a core part of any recovery/care programme and plan.

Physical inactivity matters. Tell us. Listen to us. Ask us. A call to action to recognise the ways in which care-givers could help towards increasing physical activity and decreasing sedentary behaviour in patients with psychosis. New paper out now: doi.org/10.1177/002076…
