There are very few databases built for the new async I/O paradigm introduced by Linux's io-uring. Though many support it, they had to retrofit since they are old. So what we are building with NOMT is not just cutting-edge for blockchains, but also in the database scene.

as a late christmas gift to the polkadot (& kusama) ecosystem i would like to present the following: polkadot.wtf it's a real-time dashboard (thank you to conduit for the inspo) where you can keep track of all your favorite chains at once all complaints and comments

I just applied to speak at Protocol Berg v2 V2 in June: "Scaling Blockchain with SSDs is Smart (and Scaling with RAM is Stupid)" Good databases are going to give us the next order-of-magnitude in blockchain scalability, without sacrificing interoperability or decentralization.

Polkadot's Spammening showed that Polkadot (in aggregate) can confirm over 100k TPS for _unrelated_ processes running on different cores. What about the TPS limitations for a single process/chain on Polkadot? It turns out that it's more or less the same! The reason this works is

just DA things you wouldn’t believe until you zoom out polkadot: top DA throughput vs modular solutions + no added cost for apps jam: we’re 20x’ing that, btw had to stop zooming out before the rest turned into flatlines

I have to say this is a whole new low and only shows desperation. You guys obviously can't compete on technology so you resort to poisoning our SEO? Masterful gambit honestly. But it won't save you.

Last month we landed a host of new optimizations for NOMT to save disk space and improve performance. Here's a benchmark with 1B accounts, with transfers to freshly created accounts. Previous TPS: 19k New TPS: 34k Previous space usage: >1TB Current space usage: 140GB

Thrum has signed a service contract with Parity Technologies to integrate our merkle trie database NOMT into Polkadot-SDK. Target date is EOY 2025.

Very excited to see teams like Bullet using our state database NOMT (Nearly Optimal Merkle Tree) to build great products across the entire blockchain ecosystem. This is one of the reasons we've been excited to partner with Cem | Sovereign at Sovereign - they are building a userbase

Unfortunately, because of a weather-diverted flight I will not be making it to Berlin in time for Protocol Berg v2 But I will still share my slides & record some clips about NOMT, and how we as an industry can use it to scale blockchains with affordable hardware rather than RAM

I just read this article by FlashBots. Cool analysis But I believe they overstate their central thesis: that all excess blockspace will be filled with MEV-induced spam, and this will in turn raise fees for regular users, pricing them out. It looks more to me like scaling does

I support Hydration 100%. Blockchains are great for DeFi. Bitcoin started it in 2008 with magic internet money. The double spend problem is inherently financial. Polkadot will benefit from helping apps like Hydration and the DeFi vertical as much as possible.
