The Mathematical Sciences department had the honor of hosting Anette (Peko) Hosoi for the 2024 Richard C. DiPrima lecture. Her talk, “A Few Short Stories About Mathematics and Sports,” showcased groundbreaking work on player tracking and fantasy sports. Thank you, Dr. Hosoi!

On Friday, physics students enjoyed the Fall Physics Picnic hosted by the Physics DEI Committee at Prospect Park Pavilion! With delicious food, fun games, and beautiful weather, it was the perfect way to celebrate the start of the fall season together 🍂

The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy participated in the NSBP-NSHP (National Society Black Physicists and National Society of Hispanic Physicists) in Houston Nov 13-17, 2024, for graduate recruiting efforts.

In November, RPI hosted its 11th annual HackRPI 2024, where students tackled the theme of Urban Upgrades. Over 24 hours, teams built and showcased projects to a panel of professors, industry pros, and peers.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Curt M. Breneman, Ph.D., Dean of RPI's School of Science, on 12/3 after a brief illness. A beloved member of the RPI community since 1989, he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with his wife, Mimsy, & their family.
