Excited to announce "Comprehensive analysis of structural variants in breast cancer genomes using single-molecule sequencing" published in Genome Research by Sergey Aganezov Sara Goodwin Rachel Sherman, PhD Fritz Sedlazeck Melanie Kirsche Winston Timp et al genome.cshlp.org/content/early/…

Excited that our paper on analyzing breast cancer variation using long reads is finally out in Genome Research. It's been a pleasure to work with Sergey Aganezov Michael Schatz Melanie Kirsche Winston Timp Fritz Sedlazeck Sara Goodwin and many other collaborators! genome.cshlp.org/content/early/…

Congratulations to Dr. Rachel Sherman, PhD for successfully defending her PhD at JHU Computer Science today!!!! Her thesis advisor Steven Salzberg 💙💛 and committee members Winston Timp and @BenLangmead (and me!) couldn't be more proud!

Guillain-Barre syndrome outbreak in 2019 was associated with bacterial infection; new paper by my colleagues Ana Ramos, Carlos Pardo, Rachel Sherman, PhD, and many others just out nn.neurology.org/content/8/2/e9…

Extremely excited to share this new preprint that formally introduces the expanded The 1000 Genomes cohort. Great collaboration between NY Genome Center and the HGSVC. All resources freely available at: internationalgenome.org/data-portal/da…

Very excited to announce our preprint on Jasmine, a method for consolidating structural variant calls across samples! Thank you everyone who contributed! Michael Schatz Sergey Aganezov Rachel Sherman, PhD Bohan Ni biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Very excited to announce: "Jasmine: Population-scale structural variant comparison and analysis" by Melanie Kirsche Rachel Sherman, PhD Bohan Ni Sergey Aganezov and Gautam Prabhu. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Honored that our T2T preprint was covered by Sarah Zhang The Atlantic! theatlantic.com/science/archiv…

🚨NEW: A life-threatening complication of tampon use shocked scientists in the 1980s. Now, researchers say that that disease could explain why some kids with Covid-19 develop a harrowing condition known as MIS-C. My latest for The Atlantic: theatlantic.com/science/archiv…

Want to work from literally anywhere in the US, on an awesome team at Illumina? My team is hiring! You'll get to learn about tons of cool projects across academia and industry and help them go smoothly by supporting our Bioinformatics Software and LIMS. illumina.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/illumina…

Another point raised in the article is Johns Hopkins University enforcing apartheid by making PCR testing available to students only, while it remains virtually impossible for non-JHU affiliates. JHU owes Baltimore billions in reparations but still won't provide testing/masks for the city

Hey. Awesome animal advocate & good person Stacey Menegatti has been ceaselessly trying to get sweet special goofy former Bmore street pup Aardvark adopted. There was even a The Dodo article (thedodo.com/daily-dodo/she…) but somehow he’s still looking since Jan?! Let’s DO THIS, Twitter!

Super excited to announce "Jasmine and Iris: population-scale structural variant comparison and analysis" by Melanie Kirsche, Guautam Prabhu, Rachel Sherman, PhD, Bohan Ni, Alexis Battle & Sergey Aganezov. Bloomberg Distinguished Professors JHU Computer Science nature.com/articles/s4159…
