Just look at all that sunshine! Cornell BME director M v/d Meulen Biomedical Engineering Society #BMES2021 w/ PhD students & postdocs glad to back at it (Steph Infection Ruben Trujillo Cara Robertus David McKellar)! Meet some of our students at virtual info session, 3pm EST: bme.cornell.edu/bme/talk-us-bmā¦

I had such a great time at the #BMES2021 Bash with some of the Cornell BME trainees! Pro-tip: glow sticks in the theme park are great flare AND help you find your group in a crowd š

Glad we were finally able to reunite Club Putnam after so many years! Cara Robertus and I definitely enjoyed continuing the shenanigans with you this past week at #DCMB2022! Hope to see you again soon!

Spotlight on Cornell BME Bonassar Lab Ph.D. student Serafina Lopez, who's researching techniques for improving the structure of tissue engineered menisci as replacement for torn or damaged tissue. Also: she hikes, bakes, & has a supercute dog)! More: bme.cornell.edu/spotlights/impā¦

Tune in tomorrow, June 8th at 10 AM to the HSS Orthopedic Soft Tissue Research Meeting to hear from Serafina Lopez about her work on enhancing collagen fiber formation in tissue engineered menisci ORS Meniscus Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)

Here Cornell BME Cornell Engineering , we are serious about many things, but we also have fun. Last week our graduate chapter of the Cornell BMES Biomedical Engineering Society held a fall cornhole tournament! Winners (again) Rick Zirkel and Ruben Trujillo received a handsome plaque.

I am happy to share my first first-author publication has been published! This work is the culmination of the past couple of years of my research and it wouldnāt have been possible without the collaboration from the Bonassar Lab!

I'm very excited to announce I'll be joining University of Rochester - Biomedical Engineering as an assistant professor in July 2025! Thank you to all my mentors/mentees š I'm looking forward to starting the Irwin Lab focusing on orthopedic mechanotransduction using biomaterials and intravital imaging approaches š¦µš¬

Congratulations to Dr. Lopez (Serafina Lopez) for defending her thesis: "The role of proteoglycans in the modulation of collagen fiber architecture and mechanical properties in tissue engineered and native meniscus." We are so proud of you! Cornell BME #TeamMeniscus #NSFfunded

Congrats to Serafina Lopez for her article (mdpi.com/2306-5354/11/1ā¦) in Bioengineering MDPI describing the use of siRNA to transiently inhibit aggrecan production and enhance fiber formation and mechanical performance of tissue engineered meniscus! Cornell BME #TeamMeniscus #nsffunded
