Confidence is still low in the timing and placement of scattered storms by Friday (July 4). Long-term models smooth data to make it look like we have a decent evening chance, though short-term models slow the storms' advancement east and keep us from rain until very late.

The latest drought monitor was just released this morning, taking into account the record rainfall in Grand Island and surrounding areas last week. Buffalo, Hall and Merrick counties have seen drought conditions improve by 2 classes in one week. #NEwx

UPDATE: 4th of July Severe Weather Potential Marginal Risk has expanded and now includes a big portion of the state. Storms start in western Neb in the afternoon and spread into central Neb around sunset. Storms will then weaken as they move into eastern Neb overnight.
