The R/V Armstrong is loaded & ready to depart from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) dock this morning for the Pioneer 21 expedition to the Mid-Atlantic Bight. The team will service moorings & recover data as part of ongoing operations at the OOI Pioneer Array. Safe travels to the crew! ⚓️🌊

In December 1917, the US Navy sub USS F-1 sank in a tragic accident off the California coast. With support from U.S. National Science Foundation &@USNavyResearch, we conducted a non-invasive survey of the wreck to create these detailed images & maps. 📲 Dive deeper w/ CBS News: go.whoi.edu/cbs-sub
