Are you gobsmacked like us by the mayor’s latest interview?? Has he done a 180, or will this continue and end up a 360? We've walked straight forward on our mission from day 1, but now we're getting dizzy. Check out our blog - bit.ly/dickens180 #beltlineatl #atlpol

Will Atlanta finish what it started? After his MARTA infill station announcement & support of the Streetcar East Extension, Mayor Dickens seemed to support light rail. Now seeming uncommitted, does he want to be Transportation Mayor or Folding Chair Mayor? tinyurl.com/FoldingChairMa…

Mayor Andre Dickens announces the end of BeltLine Rail with word salad. "What I'm doing now is making sure, as we're on the precipice of moving forward with a decision on what type of modality, let's go ahead and get today's numbers and today's types of technologies."

Meanwhile in Atlanta we couldn't keep a couple of blocks of Peachtree as a shared space, even with some car lanes still intact. Mayor Dickens killed the program when it was in its pilot phase, turning it back into four lanes of car traffic. We gotta grow up and act like a city.

YES! And don't forget 2007 vote by MARTA Board supporting the Locally Preferred Alternative, which said entire BL loop should be built with Rail. And before that, 2005 vote by City Council, County, and School Board supporting the Redevelopment Plan, which was centered on Rail.

Plans for the Beltline – after years of studies and community engagement – have consistently included light rail connecting 45 Atlanta neighborhoods. Last week, we brought together local experts and advocates to discuss how best to make that happen 🧵 youtube.com/watch?v=ZCuwB_…

Last month, Center for Civic Innovation held a panel discussion with questions on BeltLine rail and shared diverse takes on it. In this clip (video courtesy CCI), BeltLine creator and urbanist visionary Ryan Gravel urges us to make ATL for everyone, adding BeltLine transit always was its core.

"Critics want to redefine the Beltline as only a trail, an amenity for those currently privileged enough to have easy access." But that's not "what we were promised, what we've been paying for." Great video from BeltLine Rail Now > youtu.be/YFJhlZShyNI?si…
