68,000 Americans die each year due to the lack of healthcare.

No matter what happens in the NYC mayoral race, the left needs to truly examine why we are not gaining with Black voters.

It would be nice if we took a moment to reflect that this could be a reason to push for RCV in DNC primaries. This is a result of RCV.

The left is going to have to figure out Black working class voter outreach. And it’s not going to be done by lecturing, but by listening. It is critical that the left starts centering Black Americans and Black liberation.

Any progressive coalition that leaves out Black Americans is not truly progressive. And ignoring this is not only a mistake, it’s doomed to fail in its goals because Black liberation is essential to changing this country for the better.

The left needs to center Black working class outreach. Genuine outreach, not “I’ll go knock doors and tell people my ideas,” but actually go and listen to what Black Americans are facing and not only making it part of policy, but bringing people into the coalition to lead.

I’ve been on Medicaid & I’ve been on SNAP. It allowed me to treat my chronic health issues while getting my life back together. These programs aren’t shameful nor are those who use them—we’re humans with ambitions. I was worthy. If you’re on these programs, you’re worthy, too.
