What’s your favorite RCDS event? Many would say it’s the Back-to-School Block Party! As the first community event of the year, this RCDS tradition brings students and families together for an afternoon of fun! This year’s Block Party is scheduled for Sunday, September 10!

This summer's optional employee summer reading selections were determined by suggestions from faculty and staff. Besides enjoying a good book during the summer, employees will have the chance to share their thoughts from their reading with each other during Opening Meetings!

Another summer of the Academic ACTION program has concluded at Rye Country Day! This year, ACTION served 66 students on campus, marking the 38th year of the program at RCDS. Thank you faculty and members of the RCDS community who make this program a continuous success.

9 RCDS community members attended the 2023 Igniting Genius HackBAC Mixer & Heads of School Celebration. RCDS and RIISE are proud longtime partners in admissions and enrollment work to make sure that students of diverse backgrounds thrive and succeed in independent schools.

Dr. Jessica Flaxman was featured in 2023-2024 Education Guide’s “Culture of Connection." The article summarizes Dr. Flaxman’s doctoral research, which looked into the skill sets possessed by women serving as heads of large, K-12 independent schools. ryecountryday.org/news/post/~boa…

This summer, Ellen Chen ’24 led a team of 50 students to host a charity art exhibition to support the Don Bosco Community Center in Port Chester, NY. The event raised $10,000+ and featured 400 student artworks. Read more: ryecountryday.org/news/post/~boa…

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK: Gil Castagna arrived at RCDS on October 31, 1979. Coach C. is one of the longest-serving faculty members at the School, and, over the last 45 years, he has been a prominent teacher, mentor, and coach to generations of RCDS students and alumni.

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK: Maximo Pérez is flourishing as an active member of the School community. In his role as the DEI Fellow, Mr. Pérez supports all aspects of the DEI Office's programming. He shared, "In this community, people think about others and embody the School's motto."

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK: Jenny Heath is in her 18th year as an US English Teacher at RCDS and her first year as US Assistant Principal. After a few years of teaching, she worked in marketing before being asked to produce a school documentary. Her next destination was RCDS!
