1. How is political violence shaped by shifting political climates? I am excited to announce that for the coming four years, I will be leading the INCONTEXT-project, investigating how far-right representation and repression impact on extreme-right violence in Western democracies.

2. Here, representation refers to the presence or absence of far-right actors in parliaments and governments, whereas repression refers to how repressive measures targeting far-right actors, or the lack thereof, might fuel or dampen extreme-right violence.

3. For this project, the RTV dataset team @CREXUiO will join forces with the team behind the United States Extremist Crime Database (ECDB) affiliated to START Consortium & UA Terrorism Research Center, thereby covering far-right violence in both Western Europe and the United States.

4. The project is funded by @RCN_Norway and @CREXUiO and has led to my appointment as Associate Professor Politihogskolen (the Norwegian Police University College), from where I will be leading the project.

5. Situated Politihogskolen, the project will pay particular attention to how policing and intelligence might affect extreme-right terrorism and violence across different national contexts.

6. Besides covering far-right violence, the project will also systematically cover far-right terrorism plots in Western Europe and the United States, including information about types of counterterrorism measures that most frequently deter such plots.

New report out today examines timing, precise location, & motivation in 253 youth-perpetrated shootings on school grounds (1990-2016). There is considerable variation across these variables and policy interventions should be designed accordingly. Report: rockinst.org/issue-area/k-1…
