Banks and businesses are far too relaxed about the Genius Act, which would allow Amazon, Google, Walmart, et al to issue their own dollars. Think about being forced to use Amazon dollars if you are a third party seller. Or having gmail cut off if Google wants to collect a debt.

The stablecoin bill is considered a 'financial' question, but it's not. It would allow dominant businesses to control the very money that their customers and suppliers use. Maybe Walmart will only pay workers in Walmart dollars.

TOMORROW: Tune in LIVE at 4:00 pm ET for roundtable on the GENIUS Act with Bernie Sanders, TOP's @SachaLouise, and Consumer Federation of America's Corey Frayer. This Big Tech handout would let them issue their own currencies, endanger our national security and destabilize our economy.

A BETTER INTERNET: Kamyl Bazbaz of DuckDuckGo joined @SachaLouise + legal experts to talk #USvGoogle remedy trial & how to respond to Google’s illegal monopolization of the search market. The consensus? We don’t have to settle for an internet that’s shaped by Big Tech.

Really enjoyed this chat about remedies to Google’s Search monopoly w Kamyl Bazbaz, Sacha Haworth, and Doha Mekki. A summary of my comments linked in the below thread. Among them, “I’m optimistic that we’ll see a democratization of the flow of information across our society.”

The firing of the head of copyright office makes for some interesting coincidence. Who was behind it? Elon Musk or Joel Kaplan or someone else? My instincts say Kaplan after their Summary Judgment copyright hearing in NdCal last week for allegedly training off pirated data.

And yet, here you are shilling for @google, Amazon, and @meta’s RFI wishlist items. Jan Schakowsky is right! This is a Big Tech handout that will shield your biggest funders from laws that protect consumers.

Our own @SachaLouise for MSNBC: the Senate nearly gave away the literal bank to Big Tech and now some Republicans want to try again. Democrats must stay united against the Genius Act.

A fun thing about how Meta reacts to these outside studies is that they refuse to open their books to researchers they haven't paid just so they can make up data in moments like this

“Big Tech already has unprecedented access into every part of our daily lives—including not just where we shop & what we buy, but who we know, where we go, …what we search for & what we talk/email/text about. The GENIUS Act would fulfill their wildest monopoly wishes.”
