More evidence about the benefits of parent-infant relationship teams. Well done Nottingham. These teams aren’t “nice to haves” - they deliver high-impact prevention of a range of poorer life-long outcomes. Teams like this are essential if we want to improve health inequalities.

I’m now in Jenny Gibson & Rob Newton’s talk on the importance of early language & what Early Talk for York. Rob is sharing their evidence-informs approach - a system wide approach, not piecemeal projects, building on existing strengths, not “shiny new baubles” #PEDALconference2024

Rob identified active ingredients that led to Early Talk for York working well for York’s children. He warns against project tourism, looking for silver bullets or other areas copying what York have done. Developing approaches that fit local context are key. #PEDALconference2024

Sally Hogg spoke about PEDAL's work with HomeStart including a "Mindset not Methods" approach to including children's perspectives: With a curious mindset & a desire to elicit, understand & act on children's perspectives, volunteers and staff can change a lot about how they work.

The Child Poverty Unit in 2010 was the best. We were making a difference& having fun at the same time. Danni was a big part of that with her huge smile, great sense of humour & brilliant brain. Like our colleague Harriet who also died far too soon, she is such an enormous loss.

I enjoyed speak at this event today, and loved hearing PEDAL Cam’s Kelsey Graber give her thoughtful presentation about our literature review into the value of play in health (published later this year!) 👏 well done Starlight for a great day.

A fantastic morning in Oxford today learning about the amazing Growing Minds project. A great example of place-based working, harnessing lots of local assets and services to support babies, young children and families.
