So proud to support a couple through a healing repeat Caesarean with a family centred operative birth. After a debrief helped them understand their previous experience, I was able to ensure their son’s birth was joyous and celebratory. #birth #midwifery #PatientCare

“Women have been shamed for having caesareans, but they have also been shamed for wanting births with minimum intervention — as though they are selfish and spoilt for seeking control over such an extreme situation”

In a few weeks it will be 7 whole years since my first and only suicide attempt. I can’t begin to explain the growth and healing I have endured in that time period. Life isn’t perfect all the time but I am SO THANKFUL to be alive. No dark time is forever. I’m proud of myself 🧡

When we teach the @OptiBreech physiological breech birth course, I am struck by how many obstetric colleagues come up to me in the break to express their sheer relief. Their instincts have been telling them, Put your hands on, Help the baby ...

Dr Shawn Walker (@sistershawnrm) 's Twitter Profile Photo

... but our national guidance has been telling them, Keep your hands OFF the breech, you will cause harm, you will cause injury. We teach an active approach -- creating optimal conditions for an unassisted birth, swift, physiologically sound help when needed.

In the absence of any evidence that supine / 'Hands off the breech' dogma improves outcomes, guidance needs to change. @OptiBreech methods need to be tested in a substantive clinical trial. Here's how you can help ensure this happens: optibreech.uk/2024/01/22/opt…

Jon Dorling & I would 💜to hear health professionals' views on a clinical trial comparing timing of cord clamping in very preterm infants who need resuscitation at birth. Can you spare a few mins to complete a short survey? forms.office.com/e/q73Xb9Ej9T 1/3

It’s #RestartAHeart day ❤️ Did you know, there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK. And tragically, less than 1 in 10 people survive. We want to change that! Knowing CPR and how to use a defibrillator can more than double a person's
