Congratulations to Samantha for successfully defending her PhD dissertation today! Learning to Choose: Dynamic Neural Processes In The Rat Medial Frontal Cortex Thanks to Betsy Murray, Jibran Khokhar, Dave Kearns, and Tim Allen for serving on Sam's committee

holy smokes! I did it! thrilled to share I've passed my dissertation defense & have graduated from a PIEhD* to a PhD in neuroscience🥳 Incredibly thankful for the support of my committee Mark Laubach, Betsy Murray, Jibran Khokhar, Tim Allen, & Dave Kearns. *see pinned tweet😛

In our new preprint, we show that the prelimbic cortex influences decision-making in rats by controlling how much evidence is needed to make a choice. We also found a sex difference in learning: Females learned faster and made more selective choices than males. Jensen Palmer

What animal model you should work with? Maybe you were trained with this animal, not that one. Thus you choose it. In this brilliant book review by Asif Ghazanfar Asif A Ghazanfar, we learn how to think about this critical question. cell.com/current-biolog…
