I'm teaching a "data science for economists" course this semester. If you're interested in learning more about #rstats, Git(Hub), programming, databases, cloud computation, ML, etc., I'll be making all of my course material publicly available here: github.com/uo-ec607

Surprised and happy to discover it is UK Government policy to prefer open source software over alternatives. Guidance here is great: gov.uk/guidance/be-op… EU's position on open source is also strong: ec.europa.eu/info/departmen… Makes sense to collaborate on this #Brexit or not.

That carbon taxes are progressive even when ignoring use of revenue is an important result that should be spread wide on the Twittersphere. It echoes findings in an earlier paper of mine but with newer data and better tax modeling. works.bepress.com/gilbert_metcal…

New WP: I link individuals' property records to many forms of political behavior, incl. speaking at city council meetings. I find individuals become more active in local politics after becoming homeowners and focus on different issues than non-homeowners. dropbox.com/s/irmptu4ddm6z…
