Imo if you are an SDR the most important thing you can do in your first 6 months is work out if your company will promote Not if they will promote you (that usually takes 12-18 months). But do they promote any SDRs? If they don’t, time to look elsewhere

IMO the primary risks to starting a business at in your late 20s/ early 30s are: 1) Having a genuinely good alternative (when working 9-5 means earning $200k+ a year) 2) Having much higher costs (see #1) 3) Having an unsupportive partner / spouse

A dick move almost every business owner I’ve spoken with has experienced: People quitting on the Friday going into a long weekend Don’t do this if you want to leave on a good note Quit on a Thursday! Seriously, it's 10x better

One of the worst mistakes people make in enterprise sales careers: going from technical sales back to into transactional sales Eg. Enterprise AE at Datadog → AE at Yelp One of the biggest reasons you NEED a 6 month + emergency fund. You want to avoid mistakes like this

You see a lot of people complain that after 600 applications, they still haven't got a new sales role You don't see anyone complaining that after cold calling 600 hiring managers, they still haven't got a new sales role Hmm

The harder you negotiate job offers The more likely you are to be fired if you’re not hitting it out of the park (and quickly)

Thinking about how a “hard year” these days is investments performing badly, sales kinda sucking, a relationship or health struggle 150 years ago a bad year was your crops failing, your wife and sixth child dying (childbirth) AND the bank failing Todays problems are a luxury

When dealing with Americans, I have found being extremely specific is the best way to move things forward. "I can do lots of things" Is a good pitch in smaller markets. Americans tend to hyper-specialize, and then expand from there
