A break from botany with a spot of birdwatching at Deeping Lakes NR. Wonderful close encounter with a sleepy Long-eared Owl (look at those ear tufts!) and a more distant one with a rather grumpy-looking Little Owl #birds Lincs Wildlife Trust Lincsbirding



A chilly birthday jaunt to RSPB Frampton Marsh š Such an evocative soundscape - the soft braying of Brent Geese, gently whistling Wigeon as well as calls of Lapwing, Curlew and Redshank... Good views of Common Snipe, Pintail, a fluffed-up Little Egret and a Ruff too... #birds


Writing an article about BirdLife Marine programme, editing a paper about Venezuelan shorebirds (Chris Sharpe @sharpebirder.bsky.social) and genning up on orchid taxonomy ahead of co-leading (w/Sarah Lambert) the Wildlife Travel tour to Cyprus next month: a varied day ahead. But coffee first!

Personal highlights of yesterdayās #wildlifetravelling (on the Wildlife Travel Cyprus tour with Sarah Lambert ) inc Serapias politisi (tongue orchid), Gladiolus triphyllus, a charcoal bee-fly (Anthrax sp.) and Micropterix cypriensis, an endemic āprimitiveā moth with jaws!
