Interesting paper on recalibration of risk prediction models from our friends at Biostatistics: Uni of Leicester: academic.oup.com/ije/advance-ar… Covers some important issues in prognostic modelling and calibration with time to event outcomes. Great work!

🎉Our Epi/Stats Summer Seminar Series kicks off today at 12:00🎇 We're starting with an #InternalSeminar from Sarah Booth, who will be presenting her PhD work on "Up-to-date prognostic modelling of more detailed population-based cancer data"🔮♋📈 #Prognostic #CancerResearch

New paper on direct modelling of marginal relative/net survival. Joint work with Betty Syriopoulou and Mark Rutherford. bmcmedresmethodol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

NEW PAPER: Want to fairly compare cancer survival outcomes across groups with different other-cause mortality risks? Tired of trying to explain/interpret relative survival and "hypothetical worlds where you can't die of anything but cancer"? Have a read... bmcmedresmethodol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Future 50 #PhD scholarships at U. of Leicester. Including a project with Sarah Booth "Adapting prognostic models for individuals with multiple long-term health conditions" Interesting project with the PSTEP app. le.ac.uk/study/research…

📢 NEW OPEN-ACCESS PAPER "Using temporal recalibration to improve the calibration of risk prediction models in competing risk settings when there are trends in survival over time" doi.org/10.1002/sim.98… Many thanks to Sarah Booth for leading this work to improve calibration

Nice extension of the temporal recalibration approach to competing risks settings, allowing more up-to-date estimates of cumulative incidence functions. Useful when developing prognostic models, particularly for longer-term risks. Led by Sarah Booth, thanks to all co-authors.

🔍New Study Alert Prognostic models forecast patient health progression. Accuracy is essential for clinical use. Our study will look to enhance #COPD mortality risk predictions with new data. arc-em.nihr.ac.uk/research/calib… Sarah Booth Jonny Broomfield Mark Rutherford Biostatistics: Uni of Leicester
