We need an immediate humanitarian pause and urgent access to ensure the safe delivery of supplies to children and families in Gaza.

I have, of late, been thinking about how academics give and receive feedback. A lot of the standard advice ('feedback trifle', etc) has outlived its usefulness, at least for me. But then I found inspiration in an unlikely place: Jay Rayner's food reviews in Guardian culture.

What I appreciate about this moment is the honesty with which President Ramaphosa, Steenhuisen, Johan Rupert etc are describing South Africa’s many challenges with crime, unemployment and inequality. While making it clear these challenges don’t amount to white genocide.

There’s something I want to say about the dynamics of race and respect in that room of people, but it’s been a long day.

Very disappointed and shocked that global health and academic institutions that purport to work for health for ALL are SILENT in the face of forced starvation of children and of health workers and health institutions because bf bombed- it is our professional duty to speak up
