The democratic socialism espoused by Zohran - social democracy, with some added government programs and strengthened welfare - is very different than 20th century Soviet-style communism. This is not that complicated.

The Mayoral race gets all the attention but there are a lot of lessons to be learned about effective (and ineffective) RCV strategy from some of these Council races. I hope someone super smart (eg Michael Lange) will do a deep dive on this

A couple just had a very dramatic (ridiculous) fight on the bus and now that they’re gone the entire bus is chatting and laughing about it. We’re all friends now. I truly love public transportation and New Yorkers.

It costs taxpayers $89,425 to incarcerate one person at Trump’s “Alligator Alcatraz” per year. That’s more than what 95% of Americans spend on housing and food. Republican priorities: Waste tax dollars torturing immigrants, while cutting support for working class families.

“deputize the National Guard as Deportation judges” is one of the most disturbing things to come out of this extremely disturbing administration

I'm very pro-union and believe we need more, but having 2 conductors per train is regressive and reinforces the perception that politicians treat transit as a jobs program. If we implement this reform, we could provide 870,000 additional hours of bus service. It's a no brainer.

"why does our strategy of doing almost nothing, failing to support progressive policies, and being republican lite™ not resonate with people??"

Have we just completely abandoned the idea that tariffing authority belongs to Congress? It's literally in the Constitution. What are we even doing here

Maybe I'm too woke, but if this course was about how the Holy Roman Empire and Austrian policies shaped Beethoven, people wouldn't bat an eye. This course appears to be about how Compton and urban policy shaped Kendrick's music, which is a great way to show how things connect.

Remake and grow the party. Expand the tent. Challenge the status quo. Find, support, and embrace dynamic, fresh candidates. Focus on the issues that matter. Listen to the voters. Run, compete, and win everywhere. That's the plan.

Zohran won more Democratic votes in the NYC mayoral primary alone than Dean Phillips won in the entire 2024 presidential primary process. 🤷‍♀️

The irony, of course, is that right-wing electeds like Vickie Paladino—who call Zohran a communist—were vehemently opposed to City of Yes because they believe the government should control what homeowners are allowed to build on their own property. You can’t make this shit up.

Thank you to more than two dozen pro-housing leaders—including all of our incumbent Council endorsees, Rep. Nadler, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, Antonio Reynoso, Brad Lander, Brad Hoylman-Sigal 🌈🥯 and Mark D. Levine—who signed an amicus brief opposing the frivolous lawsuit to overturn City of Yes.

The correct response to Waymo announcing they're going to start operating autonomous taxis in a city is asking when the local transit agency is going to start operating automated trains and buses.
