We explain to our patients needing dialysis that when possible, a fistula is the most durable and effective form of vascular access. Well here is living evidence! Our patient had his fistula made in 1975 and it’s working perfectly. Imperial NHS 💙

ACLT Charity Share Your Wishes NHS Organ Donation💗🫀🫁 From NHSBT: Surveys show that families from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are less likely to discuss organ donation and are much more likely to decline the option of organ donation when offered the opportunity to donate.

ACLT Charity Share Your Wishes NHS Organ Donation💗🫀🫁 From NHSBT Much is being done to address this issue, but there is more to do working in partnership with charities, stakeholders, community groups and clinical teams to close the gap between ethnic minority communities willing to donate and those in need of a transplant.

ACLT Charity Share Your Wishes NHS Organ Donation💗🫀🫁 Conversations with loved ones about willingness to donate and individuals wishes are crucial - in particular amongst BAME families to try and bridge this gap. There is signs of improvement over the past few years with engagement and education being key. Lots of work still to do!

It’s my birthday. On call. In doing a transplant. But never forgetting what an incredible privilege it is to do this work. My deepest respect and admiration for the brave, generous donors and their families making this possible.
