One of my great postgrads Sayyam Kathuria, BSc (Hons), MRes, CSCS. started his data collection today. Looking at muscle activity in isometric mid-thigh pulls. No pics of faces during the pull though - much too scary! #strengthandconditioning #biomechanics Delsys @SUSportsScience

Data collection is underway for my great postgrad student Sayyam. A complex but v interesting study into neuromuscular assessment methods - isometric mid-thigh pull. Lots of technical shouting is needed! Delsys #kistler #strengthandconditioning #biomechanics

My old friend Prof Ben Garrod is having a sort-of holiday in Wales next year - travelling from Conway Castle to Cardiff Castle . . .on foot . . in a race . . . 380 km long! The Dragon® . So we said we’d support him. I think he enjoyed it

#OnThisDay 1975: Pioneering sports scientist Dr Vaughan Thomas welcomed the cameras into his Sports Science honours degree - the first in the world - at Liverpool Polytechnic. In this clip, he puts a student through his standard, absolutely gruelling physical exercise regimen.

Great to see our work published in European Journal of Applied Physiology. “Caffeine ingestion compromises thermoregulation and does not improve cycling time to exhaustion in the heat amongst males” Thanks to my mentor Dr Mark Waldron and team ☕️ 🚴 🥵 doi.org/10.1007/s00421…
