Okay, editors, I know it's bad out there, but what's up with the aggressive emails requesting reviews of manuscripts that one has *previously declined* to review in addition to providing alternative reviewers?

Quality of code in biostatistics is poor. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…. Key points: ~1/3rd papers with complex stats didn't use statistical code, 0 of 16 sets of code scored even "moderate" on 3 basic criteria for good coding practice.

Interesting new paper in JAMA Psychiatry linking abortion restrictions to suicide rates (using TRAP data Sam Harper and I compiled a while ago). I'm quoted in the NBC article below (reporters: not my forte). The paper is worth a look. nbcnews.com/health/health-… via @nbcnews

Happy to see this balanced and nuanced review by J-PAL of RCT evidence on how providing childcare affects women's economic empowerment. Appreciate that they reached out to Arijit Nandi and our team to accurately summarize our research. povertyactionlab.org/policy-insight…

1/ What do we know about how childcare impacts women’s economic empowerment? We reviewed findings from 9 evaluations across 8 countries & found that access to childcare ⬆️ women’s employment—but only where there were no extra barriers, like strict norms. j-p.al/vl3

In addition to the depressing discrepancy between declared (8%) vs. actual (2%) sharing of data, the sharing of code was even more rare. "... the prevalence of declared and actual code sharing between 2016 and 2021 were estimated to be 0.3% and 0.1%" We can do better!
