Piio Cesare makes great, but expensive Barolo! '18 is huge and tannic, years away. '19 Barbaresco much smoother and approachable!

Santa Vittoria with ' 18 Barbaresco and Barolo! Both tight, tannic, need 5 + years.

Last Piedmont winery...Vietti Winery! Beautiful, approachable '20 Nebbiolo Perbacco. And the '18 Barolo Castiglione us tight and young!

Oh Canada! '21 Pinot Noir from Blue Grouse ripe and not woody!

Da Silva '22 PN also very nice, good depth and tannins! #VIWF

Majella 'regular' 21 Cab is really big but nicely balanced! Firm tannins but not a lot of wood...years away! #VIWF

3 Pinot Noirs from Aldesheim. 22 is light but has good fruit. The two single vineyards are bigger, and more tannic, but also more expensive.

'23 Watervale Riesling by Mitchell Wine Group is a beauty! Green gold, classic petrol/citrus, big body, bone dry!!! #VIWF

2 Sauvignon Blancs from Villa Maria, both very nice and meant to be drunk now! '24 Wairau Reserve and Taylor's Pass both fresh, fruity! #VIWF

Bocale di Valentini '23 Trebbiano Spoletino is unique! Late picked but Bone dry, med body. #VIWF

2 Chards from Adelsheim Vineyard Vineyard! Regular 2021 clean, crisp, easy drinking. '19 Breaking Mountain Chehalem a different animal! Bigger, richer, more full bodied! #VIWF

Hard to believe a 15 yr old wine can taste young and fresh...but can also see why Parker gave it 95+! '10 Chateauneuf du Pape Anonym by Xavier is staggering, with its garrigue, pure cherry/blackberry fruit and super ripe tannins. And another 10 years in it! This why I cellar!

The chance of finding a 13 yr old Pinot Noir that isn't 'dead' or a dried out oak bomb is hard enough...but one that is also amazing? Maybe in Burgundy, at $500+++ a bottle. But from BC? '13 Kettle Valley Reserve. Medium red, earthy cherries, a touch of oak. Outstanding!

20 yr old wines are risky...from the integrity of the cork to what's inside! But when it works...wow! '05 Barolo Ginestra by Conterno is stunning, still deep red, classic violets and dried cherries, no wood!
