BEHIND THE SCENES 🔥 On June 6, 2025, a 2.3 acre grass and brush fire broke out on the steep hillside of Mt. Hermon Road between Scotts Valley and Felton in Santa Cruz County. CAL FIRE CZU Engine 1764 arrived to find grass on fire and spreading uphill. Multiple agencies responded,

Southbound Hwy. 17 Offramp at Sims Rd. to close for 2 weeks starting Monday, June 16 at 8 pm. Crews to work behind concrete barriers to perform emergency repairs to drainage systems. Overnight closure of the #2 (right) lane at Sims Rd. Monday, June 16 at 8 pm to install barriers.

A four-day paving project continues on Highway 9, near Boulder Creek and Brookdale through Thursday, June 19. Work to be conducted daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with one-way reversing traffic control. Crews on 6/18 and 6/19 focused in Brookdale between Larkspur St. and Irwin Way.
