Thank you to #TheGenePBS for reminding me of why I wanted to get involved in genetics, and making me excited for the future of it!

This year and all that has happened has made me passionate about advocating the importance of science and how it will benefit us all. We need to listen to scientists and #voteforscience

Today is #WorldThrombosisDay. Four people close to me have been affected by blood clots. Luckily they survived, but a lot do not. This is why I'm passionate about what I study, to find new ways to prevent thrombosis. #WTDay20

Today I defended my PhD dissertation. You can definitely say it was surreal. And I'm so proud I got to do it on #InternationalWomensDay #dissertation #PhD

Postdocs also desperately need salary increases. Especially for us living in expensive cities like Boston. One postdoc in my division is talking about quitting after only 1 year because they can barely afford to live in this city with our current salary dictated by the NIH

This past week, I participated in the ASH Advocacy Leadership Institute. It was an amazing experience to learn how to advocate for science and to meet with Congress staff. I'm honored to have been able to advocate for increased NIH funding and SCD programs
