Is it best to build a transcriptome assembly with only 1 representative from each of your treatment groups or build an assembly from all of your samples? We've done the former but I'm not sure if currently assemblers work better now for the latter. Matt MacManes

Someone just asked if I was interested in an Illumina NovaSeq.😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣 I can barely afford the service contract of my MiSeq.

If I have transcriptome data (20 individuals with 60 million reads per individual), do I need a reference genome to be able to identify transposon-derived transcripts?

So far two of the studies that I did for my PhD have been confirmed with follow up studies that include a lot more genomic data. I'm so relieved.

Trying not to have a panic attack with all of the things going wrong in the lab at the moment. Is it like this for every lab? Or am I just really sucking at the moment.
