We are actively working on cleanup following last nights storms. A few trees down/large limbs and A LOT of small debris. Focusing on greens and bunkers first, bigger equipment will go out as the course drains. Will update through ProShop when we can open.

WOW! The shot of a lifetime catching lightning and a rainbow in the same frame! 📸 Thank you for sharing, Michelle and Shawn Tegtmeier! This is from last night's storms. Local 12/WKRC-TV

Here comes the heat! A big time heat ridge will be building over the Ohio Valley this weekend and next week. As wet as we've been, that will temper the heat some, but the price will be higher humidity. The end result is the same, Heat Index values around 100 next week. #kywx

The golf course is in good shape heading into this heatwave. Growth rate has been quite hefty thanks to the abundance of moisture. Thankful for some dry time before the real nasty air moves in.

We are increasingly concerned about a Mid-July heat wave due to decreasing global winds. Today's video analysis highlight WHEN and the WHY behind this trend and if any dryness or severe weather threats ramp up with it. WATCH HERE: youtu.be/yJQzTv64ySc

I don’t know about you but I’m ready for a pumpkin spice whatever. Is it too soon to reserve an air compressor? Asking for a friend. 🫠

Heavy summer rains and bunker washouts often go hand in hand. While we can’t control the weather, golf courses can reduce the risk of washouts by investing in some key improvements 👇

A quick reminder that we still have a looooooong way to go. As mentioned in my newsletter last week, we will continue to adjust our maintenance program to support plant health by making intelligent and timely decisions to help get the turf through these stressful conditions. 🥵

A quick transition from a cool and rainy spring to hot summer weather means many courses in the Northeast have weaker turf than they’d like. Exercising caution now will help courses stay in good shape through the months ahead 👇

The summer grind continues as we perform a full mow out and a plant protectant application on greens and fairways. We take full advantage of our Monday mornings!

What’s slowing those speeds? Golfers' complaints of sluggish greens this season are backed by early Cornell research. Despite frequent rolling, high humidity is slowing ball roll, and achieving faster speeds would require intensive rolling efforts. shorturl.at/920Vn

Yeesh, this summer… from wet wilt to dry wilt in days. Nothing like a little late afternoon humidity drop to keep you honest. Good work by the team to quickly jump on it! 💦

MY BEST ADVICE WITH NEW GREENS. PLEASE DO NOT promise to open for play before they are ready. It takes 20 growing weeks to produce a surface, then two years to fully mature. Allow a soft opening first. Cutting too low, too early, with too much traffic may lead to disappointment.

The bench at the PPDL was all mine today. If struggling to keep cool season grass healthy in 90+ F temps with 75+ F dew points, rest assured you are not alone!
